Al Tuck is a Prince Edward Island-born Canadian folk singer and composer who has based himself in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the majority of his career. In the early 1990s, Tuck formed the ironically called trio Al Tuck and No Action at the same time that the Halifax independent music scene was becoming more well-known. This resulted in Tuck signing a recording contract with Murderecords, the independent record company run by Halifax pop artist Sloan, being nominated for an East Coast Music Award, and performing at Lollapalooza. The soundtrack of the Bob Dylan-themed documentary Complete Unknown includes the song "Buddah" by Tuck. In 2009, Tuck published Food for the Moon. Tuck's voice, which is thin, rough-hewn, and unmistakable, reaches out closely, and his songwriting is consistently of the highest caliber, according to a review in Now magazine.
