Alex Lifeson, sometimes known as Aleksandar "ivojinovi," is a Canadian musician best known for playing guitar and providing backup vocals for the progressive rock band Rush. Along with bassist and lead vocalist Jeff Jones, Lifeson co-founded Rush in 1968. John Rutsey served as the group's drummer. Rutsey was replaced by Neil Peart in 1974, and Jones by Geddy Lee a month later. Lifeson, along with bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee, was the only member of Rush to feature on every album up to the band's dissolution in 2018. Lifeson has been a part of the group from the beginning. Lifeson performed with Rush on electric and acoustic guitars as well as other string instruments such the mandolin, bouzouki, and mandola.
