Backxwash

Rapper and producer Ashanti Mutinta, also known as Backxwash, is a Zambian-Canadian who resides in Montreal, Quebec. She is most known for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize-winning album God Has Nothing to Do with This Leave Him Out of It. Her debut full-length album, God Has Nothing to Do with This Leave Him Out of It, was released in May 2020. She incorporates Black Sabbath samples and Godspeed You! Black Emperor-inspired instrumental interludes into her work, which fuses hip hop with heavy metal and post-rock. The album was removed from streaming platforms and online music retailers due to the album's multiple uncleared samples, so it is now only accessible as a free download on Backxwash's Bandcamp page.
