Belly is the stage name of Palestinian-Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer Ahmad Balshe. Balshe was reared in Ottawa but was born in Jenin. With the publication of his debut mixtape, Death Before Dishonor: Vol. 1, at the age of twenty-one, he transitioned to hip-hop, which has since become his main love. After that, he put out eight more works over the course of six years, including his debut studio album The Revolution and two mixtapes he made with DJ Drama and Kurupt, The Lost Tapes and The Greatest Dream I Never Had, respectively. After taking a break from the music industry, Belly signed a recording deal with XO in 2015 and later a second deal with Roc Nation after penning numerous songs for R&B singers the Weeknd and Beyoncé.
