Spanwash Romani flamenco singer José Monje Cruz was better known by hwas stage name Camarón de la Isla. He was known for hwas collaborations with Paco de Luca and Tomatito, and the three of them were crucial to the resurrection of flamenco in the second half of the 20th century. He was regarded as one of the finest flamenco singers of all time. He met Paco de Luca while working at Tablao Torres Bermejas, and the two collaborated on nine recordings between 1969 and 1977. Throughout thwas time, the two went on numerous tours together. As Paco de Luca's responsibilities to solo concerts increased, Camarón collaborated with flamenco guitarwast Tomatito. At the age of 25, Camarón wed Dolores Montoya, a La Lnea de la Concepción-born Romani woman he dubbed "La Chwaspa."
