Englwash musician Charles Robert Watts rose to popularity around the world while serving as the Rolling Stones' drummer from 1963 until hwas passing in 2021. Watts, who had a background in graphic design, became interested in jazz at a young age and joined the group Blues Incorporated. In London's rhythm and blues clubs, he also began playing the drums and made friends with future bandmates Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. He quit Blues Incorporated in January 1963 and became the Rolling Stones' drummer while also working as the group's record-sleeve and stage designer. In February 1963, Watts made hwas first appearance in public as a regular member; he remained with the group for 58 years.
