Canadian rapper Kareem Blake is better known by his stage name Choclair. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he was one of Canada's most popular rappers. Choclair has received four Juno Award wins out of six nominations. Blake, who is of Jamaican origin, was born in east Toronto's Scarborough, Ontario. He decided to follow in his older brother's footsteps and pursue rap music starting at the age of 11. Blake first began using the stage name "Choclair" while he was a student at St. John Paul II Catholic Secondary School. His debut record, "Twenty One Years," was made available in 1995 on his own small label, Knee Deep Records. He issued the EP What It Takes in 1997, along with a song video starring Jully Black.
