In East Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia, in 1997, lead guitarist Stuart MacLeod, drummer Joel Quartermain, guitarist Kavyen Temperley, and bassist Kavyen Temperley created the alternative rock group Eskimo Joe. Since the release of their debut album Girl in 2001, the band has produced five more albums: A Song Is a City in 2004, Black Fingernails, Red Wine in 2006, Inshalla in May 2009, Ghosts of the Past on August 12, 2011, and Wastelands on September 20, 2013. Eight ARIA Music Awards have been won by Eskimo Joe. In 2006, the band received four wins out of nine nominations for their efforts on the album Black Fingernails, Red Wine.
