Ian Gillan

As the lead singer and lyricist for the rock band Deep Purple, British singer Ian Gillan is best known. His singing voice is well-known for being strong and versatile. Initially influenced by Elvis Presley, Gillan started and lead numerous local bands in the mid-1960s, and eventually joined Episode Six when its original singer resigned. He first had significant commercial success in 1969, the year he joined Deep Purple.
