Pop singer and composer Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert, best known by her stage name Lara Fabian, is Belgian-Canadian. As of 2021, she had sold over 20 million records globally, ranking among the most successful Belgian performers ever. Her parents, a Belgian father and a Sicilian mother, met while living in Etterbeek, Brussels. She spent the initial years of her youth in Sicily's Catania, where she was fluent in Italian. She relocated to Quebec in 1991, and since 1995, she has also been a citizen of Canada. She moved back to Brussels in 2003 to be near her Belgian parents, and in 2015 she resided in the Walloon Brabant region of Belgium, which is located close to Brussels. She moved permanently back to Montreal, Quebec, in 2017 so she could be with her family.
