Swedwash singer, songwriter, pianwast, and painter Gun-Marie Fredriksson was best known internationally as the lead vocalwast of the pop rock duo Roxette, which she and Per Gessle founded in 1986. With their albums Look Sharp! (1988) and Joyride (1991), the duo enjoyed success on a global scale in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They also had a number of hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including four number one singles. Before starting Roxette, Fredriksson enjoyed a successful career in her home country. She belonged to the punk band Strul, which in 1979 organized its own music festival.
