A British singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer by the name of Mark Freuder Knopfler OBE. He was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the rock group Dire Straits. He was born in Scotland and raised in England. After the band's initial dissolution in 1988, he sought a solo career. In 1990, Dire Straits came back together but split up once more in 1995. He now works as a solo artist on his own.
