English MC Rodney Panton, popularly known as Rodney P, originally rose to prominence in the 1980s through the UK hip hop movement. He is also a well-known radio and television personality. Rodney P, a former member of the UK hip-hop group London Posse, is renowned for his London-accented rapping. In 1986, Mick Jones of The Clash requested London Posse to accompany his new band Big Audio Dynamite on a UK tour. Following the recording of "Live Like The Other Half" and "Money Mad," which were included on the group's lone album, Gangsta Chronicle, a recording contract with Big Life Records was signed.
