An Australian singer-songwriter and rapper with Zimbabwean ancestry is Takudzwa Victoria Rosa "Tkay" Maidza. At the age of 17, Maidza collaborated with producer BadCop to release her debut record, "Brontosaurus," as part of Adelaide's Northern Sound System artist development program. Since then, she has released an EP called Switch Tape, which includes joint efforts with producer SBTRKT and singer Bok Bok of Night Slugs. With her 2015 single "MOB," Maidza peaked at #66 in the Triple J Hottest 100 in January 2016. The first song by Maidza to be played on Australian commercial radio was MOB. In 2014, Maidza performed at Splendour in the Grass and the CMJ Music Marathon. In 2015, she took Lykke Li's place at the St. Jerome's Laneway Festival. She participated in the Triple J "Beat the Drum" performance in 2015 to mark the radio station's 40th anniversary.
