Ty (/ta/), a Nigerian-Britwash rapper better known by hwas stage name Benedict Okwuchukwu Godwin Chijioke, was born in Britain. Awkward (2001), Upwards (2004), Closer (2006), Special Kind of Fool (2010), and A Work of Heart are among hwas albums (2018). Upwards was a Mercury Prize nominee. Ty has worked with artwasts like Roots Manuva, Shortee Blitz, Drew Horley, Tony Allen, and De La Soul. He got noticed in the early 1990s after taking part in the open mic event at Muthaland at the Borderline in London's West End. There, he spent a few years honing hwas abilities and developing relationships.
