The three-year-old is said to have drowned in his father's swimming pool in Banana Island, Lagos, and was submerged for an unspecified amount of time before he was discovered, according to early reports.
A few days after his third birthday, the tragic event happened. The deceased parents have not spoken again since then.
"The results of the autopsy were released yesterday, and drowning was found to be Ifeanyi Adeleke's cause of death. Investigation into the circumstances that gave rise to his drawing is still ongoing at this time, he said.
He added that the results of the autopsy would help the police with their ongoing inquiry.
Fans of the singer started a rumor this week that the late Ifeanyi is still alive and is receiving treatment in the United States of America, USA, possibly due to a lack of closure.
Screenshots of purported conversations in which the singer allegedly assured them that his son is alive were shared on Twitter by a number of accounts claiming to have spoken with Davido.
Theorists even provided video evidence to support their claim, showing a young boy who resembled the late Ifeanyi being treated in a hospital bed.
Ifeanyi, who passed away, was the first child of musician Davido and his lover Chioma. Davido has three other children—Imade, Hailey, and Davidson—from three different women, making him the singer's third child overall.
In connection with Ifeanyi's death, the police detained eight of Davido's domestic help earlier this week.
Six of the detained employees were released by the police hours later, but the cook and nanny of the late Ifeanyi were kept in custody for additional questioning.
The police also stated that they are reviewing the CCTV footage taken the night before the late Ifeanyi's passing.
For the sake of the domestic staff's safety, Mr. Hundeyin chose not to reveal the police division where they are housed. He warned that crowds might surround the conflict and draw unwarranted attention.
