Celine Dion informed her fans in a video she posted on Instagram that she has Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), an extraordinarily rare and regrettably irreversible neurological condition.
The 54-year-old Canadian singer says she has "always been an open book" but has been holding back until now.
We are still learning about the disease, but it is the cause of "all of the spasms" she's been experiencing, she continues, adding that the spasms have an impact on every aspect of her life, making it difficult for her to walk and regrettably preventing her from using her vocal chords to sing the way she used to.
She says the disease affects "something like one in a million people," and she finally has the diagnosis.
